Winter blues struck my daycare this week and we struck  back with the ever versatile "Triangle" game. All you need is different colored masking tape, an indestructible floor and a little imagination. Madi and I spent about twenty minutes last night taping triangles onto the floor - and of course any shape works great, but lets face it, triangles are the easiest - making sure that there were enough triangles in every color for each of the kids and the rest is pure fun, fun, fun.

My kids spent the entire morning playing in this room. At first they simply enjoyed hopping from one triangle to the other, then someone suggest making a train. Then there was an impromptu "air" baseball game, followed by about forty-five minutes of "air" hockey. When the energy levels reached a point where creative play was forgotten and running wild was beginning to take over I got them started on some organized games.

We started by everyone taking a triangle of a different color and I would instruct them what to do. "If you are on an orange triangle hop like a bunny to a green one. If you are on a black triangle slither like a snake to a yellow one. etc.  Then we all picked our favorite color and sat down for story time. Madi made a spinning wheel with all the colors on it that we'll try out after nap... or maybe they'll think up a new game all on their own!
